"Ah! Back in the land of Beasts!"
   Time: 7:44 CDT
   Location: Overlooking Hardesty, OK

The title means that after getting beaten and battered in Colorado and it's 5,000 ft AGL, I was so glad to get into the LOWER Great Plains! My GPS said I would make Woodward right at sunset, so I opted to set up for a grand Timelapse.

I pull up west of Hardesty, OK, in the OK panhandle. I could have gotten closer, but as a nuke had just been lit, of which the timelapse shows the aftermath, I just needed to stop.

I was laughing so hard I had to call my dad on the cell phone and tell him. About half-way through the TL, you'll see a little bright blip go along the road with the power poles, stop right under the updraft, and then go back into town! Three Hardesty citizens take their nightly walk! Must be about a half mile out and back! Soon as I saw them, I knew what it would look like and just started laughing hysterically as I pondered my odds of this. "Of all the gin joints in the world..." :-)

Timelapse of Woodward, OK area cells!

   "The no-flow bubble."
   Time: Just before sunset.
Location: Still just West of Hardesty, OK, but looking South.

Note that the backshearing portion of this anvil, the part to the right, is half as long as the
down stream portion! This is indicative of very weak venting flow aloft, and one can see in this still, that a new updraft has formed on the leading edge of the cell do to uncontrolled outflow.
